Planning assumptions

Total pallets = truckloads × pallets per truck. Affected pallets = truckloads × average damaged pallets per truck. Potential gross exposure = affected pallets × assumed loss per damaged pallet. The damage average cannot exceed pallets per truck; fractional averages are allowed.

This is a hypothetical scenario, not a customer estimate. Actual loss depends on inspection results, salvage value, recoveries, and repair or replacement costs. Gross exposure is before salvage and recoveries and excludes delay costs, insurance terms, deductibles, and liability limits. It is not a claim valuation or an insurance coverage determination.

Worked example

300 truckloads × 16 pallets per truck = 4,800 pallets. An assumed average of 2 damaged pallets per truck affects 600 pallets. At an assumed loss of $2,500 per damaged pallet, potential gross exposure is $1,500,000.
